Wood kitchen cabinet doors

Real grain, never twice the same.

A wood door shows the grain of real wood, either as solid timber or as a thin veneer on a core panel. We offer wood-based doors for kitchen cabinets, including a wood shaker.

Wood

What a wood door is

A wood door is either solid wood or a real wood veneer: a slice as thin as 0.64 mm, glued onto a core panel of wood, particleboard or MDF. Both show real grain, so no two doors are quite alike.

Materials and finishes

How it is made

Solid wood moves with the seasons: it swells and shrinks across the grain as the air turns damp or dry. A wide solid panel can change width by about half an inch, so in a frame and panel door it is left unglued in its groove, where it can move.

What we offer

  • Wood-based doors for kitchen cabinets, including a shaker door that shows the grain.

  • The wood and its tone, chosen with your quote.

The wood grain finishes in our collection, such as German Oak and Milano Walnut, are decors on slab doors, not real wood.

Where it suits

  • Kitchens where the grain is part of the design.

  • Classic and country kitchens, and calm modern ones in a light wood.

  • Islands that face a dining or living room.

Care

  • Dust with a soft, dry cloth and wipe spills straight away.

  • Keep the doors out of steam and direct heat, which can dry or mark the wood.

  • Expect slight movement from season to season; it is how solid wood behaves.

Questions about wood doors

  • Are wood cabinet doors solid wood?

Not always: a wood cabinet door can be solid wood or a real wood veneer on a core panel. Both show real grain, and a veneered panel does not swell and shrink the way a wide solid panel does.

  • What is wood veneer?

Wood veneer is a thin slice of real wood, cut as thin as 0.64 mm and glued onto a core panel of wood, particleboard or MDF. It is used for flat parts such as doors and cabinet panels.

  • Why do wood doors move?

Wood takes in and gives off moisture with the seasons, so it swells and shrinks across the grain. In a frame and panel door the solid panel is left unglued in its groove, so it can move without cracking.

  • How do I care for wood cabinet doors?

Dust wood doors with a soft, dry cloth and wipe up spills straight away. Keep them out of steam and away from direct heat, which can dry or mark the wood.

  • Is the wood grain in your collection real wood?

No, the wood grain finishes of the QUIX Group collection, such as German Oak and Milano Walnut, are decors on slab doors rather than real wood. Real wood comes with the wood door style.
